Big Bass Bonanza
Big Bass Bonanza is one of those games I picked up expecting to bounce off quickly, and instead lost a whole lunch break to it. The core loop is simple: you cast out, wait for a bite, and then reel in with a timing tap that keeps the fish on the line. It's tactile in a way that a lot of casual games aren't, and the little tug-of-war when a big one hooks up genuinely made me lean in.
The presentation is warm and unfussy. Water ripples nicely, the fish have chunky cartoon personalities, and the sound design gives every catch a satisfying little payoff. Sessions are short by design, so it slots perfectly into a bus ride or a queue. Controls are one-thumb friendly, which I appreciated when I was holding coffee in the other hand.
It's not a deep game and it doesn't pretend to be. But as a relaxing thing to open when your brain is fried, Big Bass Bonanza does exactly what it sets out to do. I kept coming back to try for a bigger catch, and that pull is the whole appeal.
