Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga surprised me with how much it respects your time while still telling a proper story. You build a party of four, each with distinct skill trees, and the turn-based fights ask you to think about positioning and elemental matchups rather than just tapping the biggest attack. The difficulty ramps fairly, so late-game bosses feel earned instead of grindy.
What really got me was the writing. Party members bicker, grow, and occasionally surprise you, and there are a couple of choices that genuinely changed how side quests played out for me. The world map is compact but dense with things to find.
If you like RPGs but hate the ones that demand hours before they get going, this is a good pick. It saves cleanly, plays fine in portrait, and never punished me for putting it down for a week.
